The Leaf House, a tropical beach house was designed by Mareines + Patalano Arquitetura is located in Angra dos Reis, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The Leaf House was inspired by Brazil’s Indian architecture.

The roof acts as a big leaf that protects from the hot sun all the enclosed spaces of the house, such as the verandas and the in-between open spaces.

Delicious!!

Churros This is the traditional (and original) spanish churros and it’s usually sprinkled with sugar (and powder cinnamon sometimes). In Brazil, however, they are found in street vendors (nothing new so far) but they are filled with dulce de leche (sometimes chocolate too). In São Paulo there is ONE place where they make the traditional spiral churros (that can be broken into edible portions) from Andalusia (Spain) and the owner of the place has been making porras (as it’s also known) at the same spot for the past 50 years. He starts frying them at 3am and won’t stop until almost 12pm. If you’re anywhere close/around São Paulo you should definitely visit this city gem. First time I went there myself I couldn’t find the place for it’s hidden in a narrow street in Mooca. Lucky I found the place. Totally worthwhile. (Photo by Carlos Lorenzo

Dear lord.

lickystickypickyme:

The Morpho butterflies are among the largest in the world, with a wingspan of 7.5 to 20 cm. The males have beautiful metallic blue upper wings, while the females are drab. Their iridescence stems from the microscopic structure of their wings. Pilots flying over the rain forest can occasionally see brief flashes of blue as these butterflies travel above the forest canopy.

Pictured is the Blue Morpho butterfly (Morpho menelaus). This brilliant blue butterfly can be found in the rain forests of Brazil and Guyana.

Read here about how and why they are so bright blue.
